Semi-trucks haul goods to eastern Afghanistan along the narrow and dangerous “K-G Pass” that winds through steep mountains and connects Khowst and Paktia provinces, Feb. 25, 2009. A $100 million, 100-kilometer improved road, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, is slated to start construction through the pass this summer.
